The Vineyards
Georgia sits between the Black Sea and Caspian Sea. While the country as a whole has a climate that is ideally suited to the winegrowing pioneered here over 8,000 years ago, there are climatic differences between the the western and eastern regions and a wide range of microclimates. Altitudes vary too, with grapes for K’AVSHIRI coming from vineyards that are around 100m above sea level to over 500m.
As these figures and the list of grape varieties suggest, K’AVSHIRI does not come from a single vineyard; it comes from a range of vineyards across Georgia. It is not a Vin de Terroir; it’s a Vin des Terroirs, reflecting the character of each of the grape varieties; fermentation techniques and soils and microclimates.
K’AVSHIRI white grapes are grown in diverse soils in Imereti in the west and Kakheti in the east of Georgia.
